SOFT HAND

In Blackjack, any two-card combination that includes an Ace, other than Ace-and-face-card-or-10. For example, an Ace and a 6 is called “soft 17” because you can count the Ace as 1 and thus your hand is 7 instead of 17. This gives you an additional chance to draw one or more cards without going over 21 in total on the next draw and breaking the hand, as is highly possible if you hit a hard 17, or any hard hand.
